Burg Wertheim is a medieval castle overlooking the confluence of the Main and Tauber rivers. Originally constructed in the 12th century, it served as a significant stronghold for the Counts of Wertheim. Over the centuries, the castle underwent various expansions and modifications reflecting changing architectural styles and military needs. Heavily damaged during the Thirty Years' War in 1634, it was largely abandoned and fell into disrepair.

Extensive restoration efforts began in the 20th century, focusing on preserving the remaining structures and highlighting its historical significance.
