Punch Brothers will perform at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine on November 11, 2026. The band is recognized for their innovative approach to bluegrass music, blending traditional instrumentation – banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and bass – with elements of progressive rock, jazz, and classical music. Their compositions are known for complex arrangements, virtuosic playing, and thoughtful lyrical content often exploring themes of mortality and modern life. Formed in 2006 as a continuation of the band led by Chris Thile while he was still with Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers have released several critically acclaimed albums and consistently tour nationally.

The State Theatre originally opened in 1929 as a vaudeville house and movie palace. Throughout its history it hosted a variety of performances including film screenings, stage shows and concerts. By the late 20th century it had fallen into disrepair but underwent extensive renovations completed in 2009 restoring many of its original architectural details. The venue is known for its ornate interior featuring a grand lobby and detailed plasterwork.
