Punch Brothers will be performing at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island on July 25, 2026. The band is recognized for their innovative approach to bluegrass music, blending traditional instrumentation with elements of jazz, classical, and progressive rock. Their compositions often feature intricate arrangements, sophisticated harmonies, and virtuosic instrumental performances. Formed in 2006, the group consists of Chris Thile on mandolin, Noam Pikelny on banjo, Gabe Witcher on fiddle/violin, Paul Kowert on bass, and Chris Eldridge on guitar.

Fort Adams State Park is a significant historical site. Construction began in 1824 as part of the First System of coastal fortifications in the United States, though the current fort largely dates from the mid-19th century. It was designed as a complex network of granite walls and bastions intended to defend Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor. Over its history it served as an active military installation through both World Wars before being decommissioned in 1950. Today it is a popular destination for recreation and hosts various events due to its expansive grounds and waterfront location offering views of the bay.
