Protomartyr is an American post-punk band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. Their music is characterized by a stark, minimalist sound featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, societal alienation, and existential dread with a darkly humorous and sardonic tone.
