Protomartyr is an American post-punk band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. Their music is characterized by a stark, minimalist sound featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, societal alienation, and existential dread with a darkly sardonic tone. The band has released four studio albums to date: *Protomartyr* (2012), *The Agent Intellect* (2014), *Relative Culture* (2016), and *For Immediate Release* (2020).

The Crescent Ballroom is a well-known independent music venue located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Originally constructed in 1917 as a mercantile warehouse, it was renovated and opened as a performance space in 2011. The venue is noted for its intimate setting and focus on showcasing a diverse range of musical acts, including indie rock, alternative, and experimental artists. It features two distinct spaces: the main Ballroom room and a smaller adjacent room called the Lounge.
