Protomartyr, a Detroit-based post-punk band formed in 2010, will be performing at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles on October 22, 2026. Their music is characterized by a stark, minimalist sound featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, Protomartyr frequently explores themes of urban decay, societal alienation, and existential dread. The band has released four studio albums to date: *Protomartyr* (2012), *The Agent Intellect* (2014), *Relatives* (2017), and *For Immediate Release* (2020).

The Regent Theater originally opened as a movie palace in 1931, designed by architect Clifford Balch. Initially known as the Fox Regent Theatre, it operated as a single-screen cinema for several decades. Following periods of decline and various uses – including a Spanish-language television studio – the venue underwent significant renovations in 2018 and reopened as a live music venue retaining much of its original Art Deco architecture.
