Protomartyr is a post-punk band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. Their sound is characterized by stark, minimalist arrangements, often featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, existential dread, and societal disillusionment with a darkly sardonic tone. The band has released several critically acclaimed albums including *The Agent Intellect*, *Relatives*, and *Guest*.
Neumos is a prominent live music venue located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Originally opened in 2002, it quickly became known for its focus on independent and alternative music acts. The venue is housed within a historic building formerly utilized as a Masonic temple and retains some architectural elements reflecting this past. Neumos consists of two distinct spaces: the main room, known for hosting national touring acts, and a smaller, more intimate space called Substation. It has hosted performances by a wide range of artists across various genres throughout its history and is considered an important part of Seattle's music scene.
