Protomartyr, the Detroit-based post-punk band, is scheduled to perform at Bristol Beacon on February 15, 2027. The group’s sound is characterized by its stark, minimalist arrangements, often featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, societal alienation, and existential dread with a darkly sardonic wit. Formed in 2010, Protomartyr has released several critically acclaimed albums including *The Agent Intellect* and *Reluctantism*.

Bristol Beacon itself underwent a significant multi-million pound refurbishment completed in 2023. Originally opened in 1898 as the Bristol Corn Exchange, it has operated under various names – including Colston Hall – throughout its history. The building's evolution reflects changing societal attitudes; the renaming to Bristol Beacon followed public debate regarding the hall’s previous association with Edward Colston, a historical figure involved in the transatlantic slave trade.
