Protomartyr, the Detroit-based post-punk band, is scheduled to perform at Bahnhof Pauli in Hamburg, Germany on February 23, 2027. Their music is generally characterized by a stark, minimalist sound featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, alienation, and societal anxieties. Bahnhof Pauli is a former railway station building located in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg. Originally opened in 1875 as part of the Verbindungsbahn – a connecting railway line – it ceased operation as a train station in 1991. Since then, it has been repurposed as a cultural venue and club. The building retains much of its original architectural character, including the high vaulted ceilings and platform areas which contribute to its unique atmosphere. It’s known for hosting a diverse range of events including concerts, parties and art installations; becoming a significant part of Hamburg’s alternative music scene.
