PKF – Prague Philharmonia, established in 1991, is recognized for its interpretations of both standard orchestral repertoire and lesser-known works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The orchestra frequently focuses on Central European composers, often presenting performances characterized by a clear, detailed sound and a commitment to historically informed performance practice where appropriate. They are known for collaborations with prominent international soloists and conductors.
The Kölner Philharmonie, the venue for the April 25th, 2027 concert, opened in 1986 after a protracted construction period replacing the previous hall destroyed during World War II. Designed by architect Gustav Peichl, it is renowned for its acoustics, considered among the best in Europe. The hall’s design incorporates a vineyard-style seating arrangement, bringing the audience closer to the performers. It serves as the primary concert hall for the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and hosts a diverse range of musical events throughout the year, including orchestral concerts, chamber music performances, and choral works. The building itself is noted for its modern architectural style contrasting with Cologne's historical cityscape.
