Philharmonia Orchestra, renowned for its versatility and historically rooted in Walter Legge’s vision of a grammophone-orchestra capable of exceptional recording quality, performs a concert at Opernhaus Dortmund on May 2nd, 2027. The orchestra’s repertoire spans from the core classical and romantic periods through to 20th and 21st-century works, frequently commissioning new pieces and embracing innovative performance approaches. They are known for a consistently refined sound and collaborative spirit with diverse conductors and soloists.

Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1964 after its predecessor was severely damaged during World War II. Designed by architect Wilhelm Schneekloth, it is notable for its modernist architecture and considered an important example of post-war German theatre design. The building features a main auditorium seating approximately 768 individuals and a smaller concert hall. Throughout its history, Opernhaus Dortmund has hosted a wide range of operatic, balletic, and orchestral performances, serving as a significant cultural hub for the Ruhr region. It underwent extensive renovation between 2008 and 2010 to modernize facilities while preserving the original architectural intent.
