Pedrito Martinez is a Cuban percussionist, vocalist, and songwriter recognized for his deeply rooted yet innovative approach to Afro-Cuban music. His style blends traditional rumba, son, and guaguancó with elements of jazz, funk, and contemporary world music. Martinez gained prominence as a member of the band Los Papines, alongside his father and uncle, and has since collaborated with artists across diverse genres including Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, and Sting. He leads his own group, Pedrito Martinez Group, known for its energetic live performances and intricate polyrhythmic arrangements.

Koko, located in Camden Town, London, has a significant history as an entertainment venue. Originally built as a theatre in 1900 – initially named the Music Hall – it underwent several transformations including periods as a BBC television studio and a nightclub.
