Experience Oslo Philharmonic live on January 23rd
Oslo Philharmonic is recognized internationally for its rich orchestral tradition and commitment to a diverse repertoire, encompassing standard classical works alongside contemporary compositions and Norwegian music. The orchestra frequently collaborates with prominent soloists and conductors, and is known for its expressive interpretations and technical precision. Its history dates back to 1919, evolving from earlier musical societies in Oslo.
The concert on January 23, 2027, will be held at Sentralen, a historically significant building in Oslo. Originally constructed as the headquarters for the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) in 1927, it served as a central hub for labour movements and political activity for much of the 20th century. Designed by architects Morgenstierne & Bach, the building showcases functionalist architecture with notable artistic embellishments including sculptures and murals reflecting social realism.
Following extensive renovations completed in 2015, Sentralen has been repurposed as a cultural center hosting a variety of events including concerts, conferences, exhibitions and co-working spaces. The building retains many of its original features while offering modern facilities. The main hall where Oslo Philharmonic will perform is designed to provide excellent acoustics suitable for orchestral performances.
