Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (OSESP) is a leading Brazilian symphony orchestra, renowned for its interpretations of both classical and contemporary repertoire, with a particular focus on Brazilian composers. Established in 1941, the orchestra has a history of commissioning new works and fostering musical education within Brazil. Its style is characterized by a robust sound and dynamic performances, reflecting its long tradition of excellence.
The concert on August 7th, 2026 will take place at Sala São Paulo, a concert hall widely considered one of the finest in South America. Originally the Júlio Prestes Railway Station’s passenger hall, the building underwent extensive renovation and was inaugurated as a concert venue in 1999. The renovation, led by architect Paulo Brillo, preserved the building's historical façade while transforming the interior into an acoustically exceptional space.
Sala São Paulo is notable for its shoe-box shaped auditorium and use of Brazilian wood in its construction, contributing to its warm and resonant acoustics. It’s home to OSESP and hosts international orchestras and soloists regularly. The hall's design incorporates features specifically addressing acoustic challenges posed by its original railway station structure.
