Avi Avital will perform at Sala São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil on October 5, 2026. Avital is a highly acclaimed Israeli mandolin virtuoso, recognized for expanding the repertoire and visibility of the mandolin within classical music. His performances often blend traditional and contemporary compositions, frequently commissioning new works alongside interpretations of pieces originally written for other instruments – transcribed specifically for the mandolin. He is known for a dynamic stage presence and technically demanding playing style.

Sala São Paulo is considered one of the finest concert halls in South America and a landmark building in the city. Originally built between 1911 and 1919 to house the Júlio Prestes Railway Station, it underwent extensive renovation and was inaugurated as a concert hall in 1982. The hall’s acoustics are particularly noted for their natural resonance, achieved through its unique wooden structure – largely constructed without nails – based on the model of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany. It is currently the home of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo - OSESP) and hosts a diverse range of classical music performances throughout the year.
