Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (OCM), established in 1988, is a symphony orchestra with a repertoire spanning from classical and romantic periods to contemporary works. The orchestra frequently performs compositions by Spanish composers alongside internationally recognized pieces, and is known for its commitment to musical education and community outreach programs within the Madrid region. They operate under the patronage of the Community of Madrid.
The concert will take place at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. Inaugurated in 1992, the Auditorio Nacional was built as part of Madrid’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture that year. Designed by architect Rafael Moneo, it’s a significant example of modern Spanish architecture, noted for its minimalist aesthetic and exceptional acoustics.
The main concert hall, Sala Sinfónica, features a shoebox-shaped design optimized for orchestral sound, and seats approximately 2,300 people. The building also includes smaller halls used for chamber music and recitals. It has become a central venue for classical music performance in Spain, hosting both domestic and international orchestras and soloists throughout the year. The venue is owned by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid (Madrid City Council).
