Classical Concerts in Vienna

Experience ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien live on April 15th

The ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, one of Austria’s leading symphony orchestras, will perform at the Musikverein in Vienna on April 15, 2027. The orchestra is known for its broad repertoire spanning from the Classical and Romantic periods through to contemporary compositions, with a particular emphasis on works by Austrian composers. It maintains a strong tradition of broadcasting, originating from its founding as the “Großes Orchester des Österreichischen Rundfunks” in 1948.

The Musikverein, home to the concert, is renowned globally for its exceptional acoustics and is consistently ranked among the world's greatest concert halls. Completed in 1870, it was designed by Hans Hansen in a Neo-Renaissance style and is the primary venue for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts numerous other prestigious ensembles. The hall’s distinctive golden hall (“Goldener Saal”) features a shoebox shape and is celebrated for its warm, resonant sound achieved through its wooden interior and specific architectural dimensions. It’s historically significant as the location for the annual New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic, broadcast internationally. The building also houses smaller halls used for chamber music and other performances.
