Experience Orchestre National de Jazz live on July 2nd
Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ) will perform at the Centre de la Vieille Charité in Marseille, France on July 2nd, 2026. The ONJ, founded in 1985, is a French national ensemble dedicated to the creation and performance of jazz and improvised music in its diverse contemporary forms. Its repertoire extends beyond traditional jazz idioms to encompass influences from classical, world music, and electronic soundscapes, often commissioning works from both established and emerging composers. The orchestra frequently collaborates with international artists.
The Centre de la Vieille Charité, the concert venue, is a historical landmark in Marseille. Originally constructed between 1640 and 1707 as an almshouse – a charitable institution providing shelter for the elderly and poor – it’s a significant example of Baroque architecture in Provence. Designed by Pierre Puget, its distinctive façade and courtyard are notable features. In the early 20th century, the building underwent restoration and was repurposed as a cultural center housing museums, concert halls, and exhibition spaces. Today it operates under the direction of Culturespaces and is recognized as a *monument historique* by the French Ministry of Culture.
