Anouar Brahem will perform at the Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France on January 22, 2027. Brahem is a Tunisian oud player and composer internationally recognized for his distinctive approach to jazz, blending Arabic musical traditions with elements of contemporary improvisation and classical music. His compositions often feature a contemplative and lyrical quality, showcasing the oud’s versatility alongside instruments like the piano, percussion, and string ensembles. He is known for exploring modal improvisation rooted in Arabic maqams while incorporating harmonic and rhythmic concepts from other genres.

The Grand Théâtre de Provence opened in 2007, designed by architect Vittorio Gandolfi. It serves as a major cultural venue for the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The theatre’s design incorporates a large glass façade intended to create a visual connection between the interior spaces and the city of Aix-en-Provence. It hosts a diverse program of performances including opera, ballet, theatre, concerts (classical and contemporary), and dance. The venue boasts a main auditorium seating approximately 1,300 people and a smaller more intimate space called the Studio.
