Orchestra Mambo International presents a vibrant performance of Latin music rooted in the classic mambo sound of post-war New York. The ensemble draws heavily from the repertoires of iconic figures like Machito, Tito Rodríguez, and Pérez Prado, delivering high-energy arrangements featuring intricate horn sections, driving percussion, and compelling vocal performances. Their style blends traditional mambo with influences from salsa, cha-cha-chá, and other Afro-Cuban rhythms, creating a danceable and engaging experience.

The performance is scheduled to take place at the Howard Assembly Room in Leeds. This venue is located within the Grade I listed Howard Opera House, originally built in 1878 as the Grand Theatre and Opera House. Following a period of decline and subsequent restoration completed in 2008, it reopened as a flexible performance space retaining many of its original Victorian features. The Howard Assembly Room is known for its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics; it regularly hosts a diverse range of events including opera, theatre, music performances and film screenings. Its design allows for both seated and standing audiences depending on the event format. It’s managed by Opera North as part of their wider cultural offering within Leeds.
