Orchestra Mambo International, founded in 1995 by arranger/trombonist Aaron Levinson, is a New York City-based ensemble dedicated to reviving and expanding the vibrant sound of classic mambo. Rooted in the arrangements of legendary figures like Tito Rodríguez, Machito, and Pérez Prado, the orchestra doesn’t simply replicate; it builds upon this foundation with fresh interpretations and original compositions.

Initially formed as a student project at Columbia University, Orchestra Mambo International quickly gained a devoted following through regular performances at S.O.B.’s and other prominent NYC venues. Their energetic live shows are known for tight horn sections, driving percussion, and captivating vocals (often featuring guest singers).

The band has released several albums including “¡Azúcar!” (2002) and “Sabor y Ritmo” (2017), earning critical acclaim for their authenticity and skillful musicianship. They’ve collaborated with notable Latin music artists and consistently tour both domestically and internationally, actively preserving and promoting the legacy of mambo for a new generation. Their commitment to education also includes workshops and outreach programs focused on Latin music history.
