Garcia’s is a long-standing live music venue located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Originally opened in 1998 by WXRT radio personality Terri Hemmert, it was named in honor of Jerry Garcia, guitarist and vocalist for the Grateful Dead. The venue quickly became known for its intimate setting and focus on showcasing Americana, roots rock, blues, and jam band artists – genres frequently associated with Garcia’s musical tastes and the Dead’s fanbase.

Throughout its history, Garcia’s has hosted numerous nationally touring acts alongside local Chicago musicians. It maintains a reputation as a listening room prioritizing musical performance over elaborate production or large capacity crowds. The space underwent renovations in 2023 but continues to operate with a similar ethos to its original founding principles.
