Nombulelo Yende, a South African soprano gaining international recognition, will perform at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on October 18, 2026. Yende’s repertoire primarily focuses on bel canto opera, particularly the works of Donizetti, Bellini, and Rossini. She is celebrated for her coloratura technique, vocal agility, and expressive interpretations within this tradition, frequently appearing in leading roles at major opera houses globally. The Alte Oper Frankfurt (Old Opera Frankfurt) holds a significant place in German cultural history. Originally built in 1880, it served as Frankfurt’s primary opera house until it sustained severe damage during Allied bombing raids in World War II. While largely rebuilt in a modernist style between 1951 and 1952 – retaining the original façade – it no longer functions as the city's main opera venue; that role is now filled by the Opern- und Schauspielhaus Frankfurt.

Today, the Alte Oper serves as a multi-purpose performance space hosting opera, concerts (including orchestral and chamber music), ballet, and other events.
