Nobuyuki Tsujii, a Japanese classical pianist, will perform at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in Singapore on May 6, 2027. Tsujii is renowned for his technically brilliant and emotionally expressive performances, often characterized by a deeply personal interpretation of Romantic and Impressionistic composers like Chopin and Rachmaninoff. He gained international recognition after jointly winning the gold medal at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition – a particularly notable achievement as he is visually impaired. His repertoire extends beyond these periods, encompassing works from Bach to contemporary composers.

The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, commonly known as the Esplanade, opened in October 2002. It is a performing arts centre situated on the waterfront of Marina Bay. Designed with a distinctive dome-shaped roof inspired by durian fruit and orchid petals, it’s become an iconic landmark in Singapore. The complex houses multiple performance venues including the Concert Hall (where Tsujii will likely perform given his instrumentation), the Theatre, and smaller spaces for more intimate performances.
