Tsujii’s style is often described as Romantic in its sensibility, showcasing a powerful emotional range and a distinctive approach to phrasing, despite being blind since birth. He gained international acclaim after jointly winning the first prize at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. His repertoire spans a broad range of composers, from classical masters like Chopin and Rachmaninoff to contemporary works.
Brick Hall, located in Nagasaki City, is a historically significant building originally constructed in 1909 as the Nagasaki Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. Designed by German architect Wilhelm Böhm, it is notable for its red brick construction – a rarity in Japan – and its blend of German Renaissance and Japanese architectural elements. It served various purposes throughout the 20th century including as a trade exhibition space and later as a community center. Following extensive renovations completed in 2023, it now functions primarily as a performance venue dedicated to chamber music and recitals, celebrated for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere.
