The Alte Kongresshalle holds a significant place in Munich’s history. Originally constructed between 1926 and 1928 as a conference and exhibition hall, it was designed in the Neue Sachlichkeit architectural style. During the Nazi era, the hall was used for propaganda events and suffered substantial damage during World War II. Post-war reconstruction saw it repurposed primarily as a venue for concerts, conventions and other large-scale events.
Today, the Alte Kongresshalle is known for its excellent acoustics and historical atmosphere. It has hosted performances by numerous internationally renowned artists across various genres. The building underwent extensive renovations in recent years to modernize its facilities while preserving its architectural heritage. Its capacity is approximately 3,400 people depending on event configuration.
