Naga Kirana is scheduled to perform at Valkhof in Nijmegen, Netherlands on July 21, 2026. The musical ensemble presents a unique fusion of traditional Indonesian gamelan music with contemporary Western classical and jazz elements. Their compositions often feature intricate arrangements for instruments like the gamelan orchestra alongside strings, wind instruments, and vocals, creating a soundscape described as both meditative and dynamically energetic. Naga Kirana aims to bridge cultural divides through their innovative musical approach.

Valkhof is a historically significant park situated on a prominent hill overlooking the city of Nijmegen. Its origins trace back to Roman times, when it served as the location of the Roman settlement *Ulpia Noviomagus*. Throughout history, it has been the site of imperial palaces, medieval castles – including the former residence of the Dukes of Gelre – and later, a monastery.

Following periods of decline and various uses, Valkhof was transformed into a public park in the late 19th century. Today, remnants of its layered past are still visible within the park’s landscape; archaeological finds and structural remains are integrated into the design.
