The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the Opernhaus Dortmund on November 21, 2026. Renowned internationally, the Munich Philharmonic is celebrated for its rich, warm sound and a repertoire spanning from classical and romantic works to contemporary compositions. The orchestra maintains a tradition of interpretive depth alongside technical brilliance, frequently collaborating with leading conductors and soloists. Its history dates back to 1893, evolving from the Tonhalle-Orchester München.

The Opernhaus Dortmund, situated in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, opened in 1964 after its predecessor was heavily damaged during World War II. Designed by architect Paul Röhricht, it’s a significant example of post-war German architecture and a key cultural venue for the Ruhr region. The building features a horseshoe-shaped auditorium offering excellent acoustics and sightlines. It’s home to the Oper Dortmund (opera company) and also hosts ballet performances and orchestral concerts by visiting ensembles. The Opernhaus Dortmund underwent extensive renovation between 2007 and 2010 to modernize facilities while preserving its original architectural character. It currently has a capacity of approximately 768 seats.
