Momma is an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2018. Their sound is often characterized by a blend of 90s alternative influences, dream pop textures, and elements of shoegaze, featuring dual vocal harmonies and introspective lyricism. The band currently consists of Etta Rønn, Allegra Weingarten, Sam Cook and Leo Ahrens. They have released several EPs and two studio albums, *Interlude* (2022) and *Household Domestic* (2024), gaining recognition for their emotionally resonant songwriting and energetic live performances.
Brooklyn, one of New York City’s five boroughs, has a long history as a cultural hub. Originally settled by Dutch colonists in the 17th century, it developed as a distinct city before being consolidated into New York City in 1899. Throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries, Brooklyn became increasingly known for its vibrant arts scene, independent music venues, and diverse communities. Williamsburg, where many venues are located, specifically experienced significant gentrification alongside an influx of artists and musicians.
