Experience Michael England live on June 27th
Michael England is a British composer and sound artist whose work frequently explores the intersection of acoustic instruments, field recordings, and electronic processing. His compositions often evoke atmospheric and textural soundscapes, drawing influence from both contemporary classical music and ambient electronic traditions. He is known for site-specific installations and performances that respond to unique architectural or natural environments.
The performance on June 27th, 2026 will take place at De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. Opened in 1935, the De La Warr Pavilion is a Grade I listed modernist building designed by architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff. It was originally conceived as a multi-purpose entertainment venue for the town, offering a cinema, ballroom, café, and reading room.
Throughout its history, the Pavilion has hosted a diverse range of performances including dance, theatre, music and exhibitions. Following periods of decline and refurbishment, it reopened in 2005 as a contemporary arts centre presenting international visual art, theatre, dance, music and film. The building itself is recognised as one of the earliest examples of International Style architecture in Britain and remains a significant landmark for modernist design.
