Melvin Seals is a renowned American keyboardist and organist, widely recognized for his decades-long association with the Jerry Garcia Band. His musical style blends elements of jazz, blues, rock, and soul, heavily influenced by the improvisational spirit of the jam band scene and gospel traditions. Seals is particularly celebrated for his mastery of the Hammond B3 organ, delivering energetic performances characterized by intricate solos and a deeply soulful sound. He continues to tour extensively with his own ensemble, carrying forward the legacy of improvisation and musical exploration.

The Stanley Theatre in Utica, New York, opened in 1927 as a lavish movie palace designed by Thomas W. Lamb, a prominent theatre architect of the era. Originally built as part of the Loew’s theater chain, it quickly became a central entertainment venue for the region. The building features ornate architectural details including a grand lobby, detailed plasterwork and a large auditorium designed to host both film screenings and live performances. Following periods of decline and closure in the late 20th century, The Stanley underwent extensive restoration efforts beginning in 2010.
