Experience Maximilian Mayer live on February 20th
Maximilian Mayer is a German composer and pianist known for his emotionally charged and often melancholic neoclassical compositions. His work frequently blends elements of classical piano with electronic soundscapes, creating a distinctive and cinematic quality. He often draws inspiration from film scores and post-rock aesthetics, resulting in pieces that are both intimate and expansive.
Theater an der Wien, specifically the “Hölle” hall within the complex, holds a significant place in Viennese cultural history. Originally built as the “Karltheater” in 1807, it quickly became known as the “Theater in der Josefstadt” before being renamed “Hölle” (Hell) due to its location and reputation for fiery performances – initially operettas and Singspiele that challenged conventional tastes. Over time, it transitioned through various uses including a revue theatre and a film venue.
In 2017, after extensive renovations, the Hölle was re-established as a modern performance space dedicated to diverse musical genres, including contemporary opera, jazz, and cross-genre projects. It’s now recognized for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, offering a contrast to the larger main stage of Theater an der Wien.
