Marqueal Jordan will be performing at The Lyric Theater in Blue Island, Illinois on September 25, 2026. Jordan is a contemporary jazz saxophonist and vocalist known for his smooth, soulful sound deeply rooted in the traditions of bebop and R&B. His performances often incorporate original compositions alongside interpretations of classic jazz standards, frequently showcasing improvisational skill and a focus on melodic phrasing. He has released several albums to critical acclaim and maintains an active touring schedule.

The Lyric Theater, located in the heart of Blue Island’s historic district, originally opened as a vaudeville house in 1908. Throughout its history, it functioned primarily as a single-screen movie theater, serving the community for nearly a century. Facing potential demolition in the early 2000s, a dedicated group of local residents formed the Lyric Theater Preservation Society and successfully campaigned for its restoration.

Following extensive renovations completed in 2014, The Lyric Theater reopened as a multi-purpose performing arts venue. It now hosts a variety of events including live music performances, theatrical productions, film screenings and community gatherings; retaining much of its original architectural detail while incorporating modern amenities.
