Margret Koell, a German composer known for her contemporary classical music often incorporating extended vocal techniques and exploring themes of nature and the human condition, will perform at the Opernhaus Dortmund on April 21, 2027. The Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1964 after its predecessor was destroyed during World War II. Designed by architects Bofinger, Schallert & Witte, it is a significant example of post-war German architecture, notable for its functionalist style and large capacity – seating approximately 746 spectators. The building underwent extensive renovations between 2008 and 2010 to modernize its technical capabilities while preserving its original architectural features.

Throughout its history, the Opernhaus Dortmund has hosted a diverse repertoire of opera, ballet, and concert performances. It serves as the home base for the Theater Dortmund, encompassing opera, ballet and drama companies.
