Experience Mahan Esfahani live on February 4th
Mahan Esfahani will perform at LSO St Luke’s in London on February 4th, 2027. Esfahani is an Iranian-American harpsichordist renowned for expanding the instrument’s repertoire and challenging conventional performance practices. His musical style is characterized by a deep engagement with both historical performance and contemporary composition, frequently commissioning new works and exploring microtonal tunings. He often juxtaposes Baroque and modern pieces, advocating for the harpsichord’s versatility beyond its traditional association with earlier music.
LSO St Luke’s is a Grade I listed Hawksmoor church in Islington, London, originally built between 1733 and 1734. It served as a parish church until 1995, falling into disrepair before being meticulously restored in 2003 as a centre for music education and performance. The venue is now the home of the London Symphony Orchestra's music education programme and hosts a diverse range of concerts throughout the year. Its acoustics are particularly well-suited to chamber music and solo instrumental performances due to its relatively intimate size and carefully preserved architectural features.
