Mahan Esfahani presents a solo performance at LSO St Lukes in London on November 26, 2026. Esfahani is internationally recognised for his interpretations of the works composed for the harpsichord by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, and François Couperin. He frequently expands the instrument’s repertoire through commissions from contemporary composers, integrating new works alongside established pieces. His playing is noted for its expressive depth, rhythmic precision, and a willingness to explore unconventional approaches to historical performance practice.
LSO St Lukes is a restored church building serving as a performance space for the London Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles. Originally built in the 1730s by Nicholas Hawksmoor, it suffered significant damage during the Second World War and lay derelict for several decades. Following extensive restoration completed in 1995, it was re-opened as a concert hall offering an intimate acoustic environment seating approximately 360 people. The venue is known for its flexible configuration allowing for various performance setups and its historical significance as an example of English Baroque architecture. It provides a unique setting distinct from the larger Barbican Centre, the LSO’s primary home.
