Bantry House is a stately home situated in Bantry, West Cork. Originally built in 1739 by Richard White, 1st Earl of Bantry, it was significantly expanded in the 19th century to become one of Ireland’s largest privately owned stately homes. The house overlooks Bantry Bay and has strong historical connections to the attempted French invasion of Ireland in 1796 – the bay was the intended landing site for the French fleet. The estate features extensive gardens, including Italian and walled gardens, and has remained largely unchanged since its Victorian heyday.
