Experience Lora Szafran live on August 29th
Lora Szafran, a Polish-American pianist recognized for her interpretations of Romantic and 20th-century repertoire, will perform at the Krakow Philharmonic (Filharmonia Krakowska) on August 29, 2026. Szafran’s playing is often described as possessing both technical brilliance and a deeply expressive quality, frequently focusing on composers like Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. She is also known for championing lesser-known works by Polish composers.
The Krakow Philharmonic boasts a significant history within Polish musical life. Established in 1909, it evolved from the Krakow Musical Society founded in 1877. Its current building, constructed between 1906 and 1910 according to designs by Rudolf Mauer and Tadeusz Stryjeński, is considered an architectural landmark of the Young Poland movement – characterized by its Art Nouveau influences and national romanticism. The hall itself is renowned for its excellent acoustics.
Throughout its existence, the Filharmonia Krakowska has hosted performances by numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists. It serves as the home base for the Royal Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and actively promotes musical education through various programs and outreach initiatives within the community.
