Lora Szafran is a Polish-born, American classical pianist renowned for her deeply expressive interpretations and technically brilliant performances. Born in 1979, she began piano studies at age four and quickly distinguished herself, winning the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (Junior Category) at age 10.

Szafran continued her education at the Juilliard School with Jerome Lowenthal and later with Ursula Oppel. Her repertoire spans a broad range, though she is particularly celebrated for her nuanced readings of Romantic composers like Chopin, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff. She frequently performs solo recitals and as a collaborative artist with leading orchestras worldwide, including appearances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra.

A dedicated chamber musician, Szafran is a founding member of the Chamber Musicians of Lincoln Center.
