Long Yu will perform at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, China on June 26, 2026. Long Yu is a highly acclaimed Chinese conductor known for his passionate interpretations and commitment to both classical repertoire and contemporary Chinese compositions. His style frequently emphasizes dramatic expression and technical precision, often championing works by Chinese composers on international stages. He has served as the Artistic Director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra since 2004 and holds numerous other prominent conducting positions globally.
The National Centre for the Performing Arts, often referred to as “The Egg” due to its distinctive elliptical shape, opened in 2007. It is a state-key cultural project designed by French architect Paul Andreu. The NCPA is a comprehensive performing arts complex encompassing opera, ballet, concerts, theatre and other performances. Its construction involved significant engineering challenges due to its location partially submerged within an artificial lake in Tiananmen Square. The venue aims to be a world-class facility promoting both traditional and modern performing arts within China and fostering international cultural exchange. It features three main halls: the Opera Hall, the Concert Hall, and the Small Theatre, alongside public spaces and support facilities.
