The London Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Opernhaus Dortmund on January 19, 2027. Internationally renowned, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is recognized for its versatility and expansive repertoire, encompassing classical works, film scores, and contemporary compositions. Founded in 1904, the orchestra has a long history of pioneering recordings and collaborations, notably being the first orchestra to record a complete version of Mahler’s symphonies. Their sound is generally characterized by precision, a rich tonal palette, and a commitment to innovative programming.

The Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1964 following a design competition won by architects Bodo Rasch and Hans-Peter Heinz. The building replaced an earlier theatre destroyed during World War II. Constructed in a modernist style with concrete and glass elements, it quickly became a significant cultural landmark for the city. Notably, the Opernhaus Dortmund features a fan-shaped auditorium designed to optimize acoustics and sightlines. It hosts opera, ballet, concerts and other performing arts events; functioning as the home venue for both the Theater Dortmund’s opera and ballet companies as well as hosting guest performances from national and international ensembles.
