The London Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Germany on April 17, 2027. The London Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1932, is renowned for its versatility and broad repertoire, encompassing standard orchestral works from the Baroque period through contemporary compositions. The Alte Oper (Old Opera) in Frankfurt holds a prominent place in German cultural history. Opened in 1880, it quickly became one of Europe’s leading opera houses, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and architectural grandeur – a Neo-Renaissance design by Richard Lucae. Severely damaged during Allied bombing raids in World War II, it lay in ruins for decades. A lengthy and controversial public debate ensued regarding reconstruction versus demolition; ultimately, a comprehensive restoration was undertaken between 1966 and 1968.
