Douglass Park, located in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side, has a history rooted in community recreation and public space. Originally established in 1895, it's one of Chicago’s earliest public parks designed by the West Parks Commission. The park spans approximately 64 acres and features athletic fields – including baseball, softball, and football – as well as a swimming pool, playground, and cultural spaces. In recent years it has become a venue for larger scale events alongside its regular community programming. The park underwent significant renovations in the early 2000s aimed at improving its facilities and accessibility for local residents.
