Classical Concerts in Paris

Experience Les Arts Florissants live on December 15th

Les Arts Florissants, founded in 1979 by William Christie, is renowned for its performances of Baroque and early Classical music. The ensemble specializes in both vocal and instrumental works from the 17th and 18th centuries, particularly French Baroque composers like Jean-Baptiste Lully, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and François Couperin. Their interpretations are characterized by historically informed performance practice, emphasizing stylistic nuance and dramatic expression. The group frequently performs operas, sacred music, and chamber works, often reviving lesser-known pieces alongside established repertoire.

The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a major concert hall complex located in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it comprises a Grande Salle with a capacity of approximately 2,400 seats known for its adjustable acoustics and modular stage; a smaller concert hall, the Salle de Recital; several rehearsal spaces; and a musical education center. The complex aims to be a comprehensive hub for musical exploration and performance across various genres while also serving as an architectural landmark.
