Experience Les Arts Florissants live on September 25th
Les Arts Florissants, founded in 1979 by William Christie, is renowned for its performances of Baroque and early Classical music. The ensemble specializes in rediscovering and performing rarely heard works from the 17th and 18th centuries, particularly French opera and sacred music. Their approach emphasizes historically informed performance practice, utilizing period instruments and vocal styles to recreate the sound world of the era. The group’s repertoire extends beyond vocal works to include instrumental pieces, showcasing a commitment to the breadth of Baroque musical expression.
The concert on September 25, 2026, will take place at Le Clos Lucé, a significant historical site in Amboise, France. This Renaissance manor house is most famously known as the final home of Leonardo da Vinci from 1516 until his death in 1519. King Francis I granted da Vinci the use of Clos Lucé, allowing him to continue his work as an engineer, architect, scientist and artist under royal patronage. The estate features a park connected to the Château d'Amboise by an underground passage and now houses a museum dedicated to da Vinci’s life and inventions.
