The building houses both the Lapland Provincial Museum and the Rovaniemi Art Museum under one roof, exhibiting historical and contemporary collections. Its architecture blends modern design with elements reflecting the northern Finnish environment. Korundi hosts a diverse range of events including concerts, exhibitions, workshops and performances, functioning as a key venue for both local and national artistic expression. The building's name originates from the Russian fortification built on the same site in the 18th century.
