Lang Lang, a globally recognized pianist, is scheduled to perform at Registan Square in Samarkand City, Uzbekistan on September 6, 2026. Known for his virtuosic technique and emotive performances, Lang Lang’s repertoire spans a broad range of classical music, from Bach and Mozart to Chopin and Rachmaninoff. He frequently incorporates elements of showmanship and seeks to broaden classical music’s appeal through collaborations with artists from diverse genres.

Registan Square is considered the heart of Samarkand and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Historically a public square and marketplace, it was significantly developed during the 15th and 17th centuries under the rule of the Timurid dynasty, particularly by rulers Ulugh Beg, Shah Rukh, and Yalangtush Biyuraral. The square is framed by three magnificent madrasahs (Islamic schools): the Ulugh Beg Madrasah (1417-1420), the Sher-Dor Madrasah (1619-1636), and the Tilya-Kori Madrasah (1646-1660).
