Lakecia Benjamin is a contemporary American saxophonist and vocalist known for her dynamic blend of jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop influences. Her music often incorporates elements of improvisation and features powerful vocal performances alongside her instrumental prowess. She has collaborated with artists across genres, including Alicia Keys, Gary Clark Jr., and Anderson .Paak, and leads the band Soul Squad. Benjamin’s work frequently explores themes of Black empowerment and social justice.

The concert will be held at the Théâtre Antique de Vienne, a remarkably preserved Roman theatre located in Vienne, France. Originally constructed during the reign of Emperor Augustus between 45 BC and 30 BC, it was one of the largest Roman theatres in Gaul. The theatre could accommodate approximately 10,800 spectators and was primarily used for performances of tragedy and comedy plays.

Following periods of disuse and partial destruction, significant restoration efforts began in the 19th century. Today, it remains a functioning performance venue hosting a variety of events – particularly during the annual Jazz à Vienne festival – showcasing its enduring historical significance alongside its continued cultural relevance. The acoustics within the ancient structure are considered exceptional for musical performances.
