Lahav Shani is an Israeli-born conductor rapidly gaining international recognition for his dynamic interpretations and insightful musicality. His conducting style is often described as possessing both intellectual rigor and emotional depth, frequently highlighting textural clarity and a strong sense of narrative within orchestral works. He has a particular affinity for the Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire, but demonstrates versatility across various periods. He currently serves as Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he assumed in 2019.

De Doelen is a renowned concert hall in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with a rich history dating back to 1830. Originally constructed as a shooting range ("doelen" translates to "targets" in Dutch), it was repurposed for musical performances in the late 19th century. The current main hall, the Grote Zaal, was inaugurated in 1966 and is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, designed by renowned acoustician Leo Beranek.
