Kokoroko is a British jazz ensemble recognized for their contemporary take on Afrobeat. Their sound blends elements of jazz harmony, West African rhythms—particularly those of Yoruba music—and soulful melodies, often featuring prominent horn arrangements and a relaxed, groove-focused energy. Formed in 2016 by bandleader and saxophonist Sheila Maurice-Grey while studying at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the group has gained international acclaim for albums like *Why We Dance* and *Heaven*.

The performance is scheduled for August 5th, 2026, at Metropolinks Commissary in Heidelberg, Germany. Metropolinks Commissary is a venue located within the former US military complex, Patton Barracks, now undergoing transformation into a mixed-use urban area. The Commissary building itself historically served as a grocery store for American military personnel stationed in Heidelberg during the Cold War era.

Following the US military’s departure in 2013, the site was repurposed and Metropolinks established itself as a cultural hub within the evolving district. The venue retains aspects of its original architectural style while functioning as a space for concerts, exhibitions and events.
